Over the past year I have been exploring the detail of some of my favourite paintings and works of art. It struck me it's very easy to overlook the incredible skill in the detail of large paintings. A visit to the Queen's Gallery ( when it was the Queen's) some time ago to see Holbein's work blew my mind.
My recent collection of oil paintings focus on the detail we may not otherwise notice, from Tudor and Stuart portraits to Dutch still life.
